I’ve covered over the last few months in the Reading Roundups, and the vibe I’ve been getting is that it’s confusing, it’s for the younger set, it’s not worth it for traffic to the blog or building your brand, and you don’t know how to work it.
Well, I’d agree with all of those! But I still think you should give it a try. If it’s not for you, no harm done – but if you do it and like it, then it opens up a whole new world of possibility for you.
And much like Twitter, if you’re not following the right people, you can easily dismiss it as total rubbish. Therefore, I’ve rounded up bloggers and online entrepreneurs like you who are making the most of the fastest-growing platform. Stalk away!
Elsie Larson of A Beautiful Mess
Everybody’s favourite Craft/home reno/DIY/foodie blog A Beautiful Mess was created by Elsie, and she shares snippets of life, fun projects, and her home as it progresses. A must for crafty types.
Sonia Bavistock of Sonia Styling
Sonia shares fashion, food, her travels throughout Adelaide and beyond, and snaps of her cute pup, Amalfi. If you like girlie tones and the latest trend, Sonia is for you.
Pat Flynn of Smart Passive Income
Entrepreneurs across the globe are already familiar with the popular Pat Flynn, and probably follow him everywhere online already – but if you want to see unfiltered, uncensored, unpretentious moments of Pat’s day, this is where you’ll find it.
Emma and Carla Papas of The Merrymaker Sisters
These sisters are brimming with super positive energy and even if you’re not into healthy food and following your bliss, their infectiousness can’t help but give you a dopamine boost. Follow for little doses of inspiration, behind-the-scenes shoots, and their interactive chats.
Lewis Howes of The School of Greatness
Lewis Howes is an author, lifestyle entrepreneur, former pro athlete and the motivator of internet folk everywhere. His podcast, the School of Greatness profiles brilliant business minds, world class athletes and influential celebrities to help you find out what makes great people great. Lewis shares candid moments with his guests, and gives you a sneak peek of products, episodes and stories coming up, as well as things he loves right now.
John Lee Dumas of Entrepreneur on Fire
The champion of learning from business failures and using that knowledge to be more successful, John loves nothing better than a little rant, a lotta hustle, and a big kick up the pants for those who want to make it online. Quite fond of a filter or two.
Gary Vanyerchuk of #AskGaryVee
If you are online in any capacity, especially in social media marketing, you’ve heard of Gary Vee. He dominates every platform, knowing just how to make the most of it to amass an army of loyal fans. Snapchat is no different – he spends his time getting personal, giving tips, running through picturesque New York, and having the most fun ever.
Dan Norris of The 7-Day Startup and WP Curve
Dan is an Australian entrepreneur passionate about helping other entrepreneurs get their ideas off the ground. He shares new site content, advanced info about upcoming stuff, and snippets of his daily life on the beach at the Gold Coast. Cameos are also made by a certain couple of sisters in this list. Follow if you want to see dreams come to life in real time.
Lorraine Elliott of Not Quite Nigella
Food and lifestyle queen Lorraine is an avid Snapchatter, often showing us what’s happening in her kitchen, at restaurants, at events, and on her travels all over the world. It will make you hungry and give you wanderlust all at once.
Carly Jacobs of Smaggle
Carly is a productivity ninja and her blog Smaggle is a useful repository for tips to help you kick ass at life in general. She’s my 90s nostalgia-filled podcast Sweet Teen Club co-host and shares our behind the scenes setup, shots of life in inner-city Melbourne, her food, her travels, and her lifestyle hacks. I still drool over the memory of that time she taught us to poach an egg.
Nikki Parkinson-Hubbard of Styling You
Nikki is a newcomer to Snapchat, but she’s already Snapping like a boss. Follow her for fashion advice, insights into beauty trends, updates on blog content, the insider’s view of exclusive events, her travels, and her epic fashion blogger and beauty hauls.
Darren Rowse of ProBlogger
Darren picked up Snapchat at Social Media Marketing World this year, where he was told over and again YOU NEED TO BE ON THIS! He’s decided that he’d like to focus on other platforms for the moment, but should he pick up the Snap again, you’ll be the first to know if you’re already following.
So these are a few bloggers I’ve seen do Snapchat super well (I’m also a fan of thepioneerwoman, likeavegan, and thesugarhit). Give them a follow and see how you too can make the most of the little yellow ghost. And if you want to, you can follow me on Snapchat here!
Are you on Snapchat? Have you found it a useful way to engage with your readers? Or like Darren, are you certain you’re more useful on other platforms?
