Of course ‘Game of Thrones’ was the most pirated show of 2016

Game of Thrones has got yet another accolade – if you can call it that – as the HBO mega-hit takes the title of most illegally downloaded show of 2016. Catchy, huh?

GAME OF THRONES COMES IN AT THE TOP OF THE LIST

According to Torrent Freak, Game of Thrones comes in at the top of the list for the fifth year in a row.

The show received roughly the same amount as torrents as in 2015 (350,000 per episode), although it is pointed out that lots of people have switched from torrents to streaming, so the real number is probably even higher.

These new figures dispute the recently reported idea that The Grand Tour was now the most pirated show ever – in fact, Clarkson and Co. don’t make an appearance on the 2016 piracy list until quite a way in.
Superhero shows The Flash and Arrow were at four and five, followed by The Big Bang Theory at six.

The seventh most illegally watched show was Vikings, while Lucifer was at eight. Suits came in ninth place and, finally, The Grand Tour rounded out the top ten, according to these latest stats.

While The Grand Tour it might be the most watched show on Amazon Prime by a landslide, MUSO, who analysed the data for pirating of TV shows, now suggests that it might only be the most illegally watched show in the UK.
