Facebook may have started as a social media company with a single product, but these days, the Menlo Park-based firm is offering a wide variety of various apps fulfilling all kinds of purposes. A portion of these offerings have been spun off from the main Facebook app and include the likes of Facebook Pages Manager, Messenger, and Events. The company introduced Events on iOS devices a couple of months ago, and today, the said app will also be hitting the Google Play Store.

AS THE NAME SUGGEST, THE EVENTS APP WAS DESIGNED TO ASSIST USERS IN DISCOVERING NEARBY CONCERT

As the name suggests, the Events app was designed to assist users in discovering nearby concerts, festivals, promotions, and all other kinds of happenings. Not surprisingly, this mobile tool features full Facebook integration which means you’ll be able to mark happenings in your Facebook app and see them while browsing Events. You can discover new happenings based on time, location, and interests, as well as integrate events from most popular third-party calendars. Refer to the gallery below for some screenshots of Facebook’s latest app. Now, while anyone can use this piece of mobile software, Facebook points out that the said creation was designed specifically for outgoing people and promoters who are either attending or managing multiple events per week. While that may not be a huge target audience, it makes sense for Facebook to serve it seeing how these are the kind of people who invite other users to events via Facebook. In other words, the social media giant needs outgoing, extroverted people and event promoters to fulfill its goal of becoming the number one app for discovering nearby happenings.

NATURALLY, AN ACTİVE COMMUNİTY DEDİCATED TO FINDING LOCAL EVENTS LEADS TO A BETTER USER

Naturally, an active community dedicated to finding local events leads to a better user experience which consequently results in more potential ad revenue from event organizers. So, it remains to be seen whether the Android version of Events will be better accepted than the iOS one which never managed to break into the top 200 grossing apps on the App Store. In any case, we should know more soon as Facebook’s latest app is slated to hit the Google Play Store by the end of the day. There’s still no word on software requirements, but the app will presumably work on most modern Android devices.
