Tech Columnist Chris Smith published an article on the Google Pixel and Pixel XL.

Pixel and Pixel XL owners should be thrilled to hear that Google has fixed yet another bug that has been driving people up a wall: the Bluetooth connectivity issue. While it’s not as annoying as the sound distortion bug, it’s still good to hear that Google has found a way to patch up the Bluetooth issue that affected some Pixel users in the past few weeks.

The problem was first detailed last month after Google released its February Security Patch. Affected devices would randomly drop Bluetooth connections, as the radio would be turned off. That means music would stop playing on Bluetooth speakers, and headsets used for phone calls would suddenly stop working.
GOOGLE FAILED TO FIX ISSUE IN THE MARCH SECURITY PATCH

Google failed to fix the issue in the March Security Patch, even though the company did acknowledge the problem. But on Friday, a Googler posted a note on a product form, as discovered by GSM Arena.

“I just got word that Google has just finished putting a fix in place for this issue on our end — no downloads or updates to your devices or apps are needed,” the Google employee wrote. “We’d love to hear feedback from this group. If you have a chance to test your Bluetooth connection, please let us know how it goes.”

GOOGLE MADE SOME SERVER SIDE CHANGES TO FIX ISSUE

Google made some “server-side changes” to fix the issue, although it’s not clear exactly what that means.

If you’re still experiencing Bluetooth issues on your Google Pixel or Pixel XL, don’t freak out. A Google Play Services update should bring the fix to your phone. If, on the other hand, you still get Bluetooth connectivity issues after the upgrade, make sure you tell Google about it here.
