Samsung Galaxy 5S 16 GB Review

A 16GB Samsung Galaxy S5 will only give you half as available storage

We were worried that even though Samsung didn’t add new bloat to its Galaxy S5 software offerings, it wouldn’t necessarily mean that Samsung had done anything to remove the bloat that was already in the TouchWiz software, and it looks like we were right to be worried. According toAndroid Central, a 16GB model of the Samsung Galaxy S5 will only have about half of that as available storage.

The image of the storage settings page for the Samsung Galaxy S5 shows that on a completely clean and brand new 16GB model, there will be about 8.4GB

free as usable space, which is a little bit less than what as was available on the Galaxy S4. For comparison, a completely clean and brand new 16GB Nexus 5 offers about 12.16GB of available space to users. So, assuming that the Android system and Google Apps takes up about 3.84GB of space, this means that TouchWiz and all of the Samsung software adds another 3.76GB of data to your new Galaxy device. And, once you start snapping 16MP photos or taking 1080p or even 4K video, that storage will be used up very fast. – There is obviously a reason why Samsung still includes microSD card expansion in its devices, and that reason is TouchWiz. So, if you’re in the market for a Galaxy S5, we’d suggest either ponying up for the 32GB model or investing in a microSD card.  (source: Android Central)

In our Samsung Galaxy S5 review, we rated the Galaxy S4’s successor very highly. The screen is superb, the battery life’s excellent and it has a versatile camera.

It might seem a little plasticky compared to the metal HTC One M8 or the glassy Xperia Z2, and it’s a little long in the tooth compared to Apple’s iPhone 6, but the Galaxy S5 still offers enough smartphone goodness to want to keep it well protected.

Samsung makes its own cases, such as the S View and the Flip Wallet, but manufacturers such as Otterbox, Incipio, Tech21 and Griffin also offer a load of different cases to wrap around the S5.

When you’re considering a Galaxy S5 case, it’s important to consider which of the phone’s features you’re going to use most. Do you want easy access to the fingerprint sensor? Do you want to be able to charge or take photos without taking your mobile out of its case?

We’ve snapped, squeezed and clipped a plethora of cases to see which are best suited to various needs. (http://www.trustedreviews.com/)

Samsung Galaxy S6 Vs Galaxy S5 Review: Should You Upgrade?

It is worth pointing out these improvements are nothing to do with the bump in resolution. Consider that a 50-inch 4K television has a pixel density of 88 ppi and you’ll see just how far phone makers have gone past practical resolutions.

On paper this shouldn’t matter as the new Galaxy S6 display is actually more efficient than the 1080p panel in the Galaxy S5, but the reality is different and I’ll discuss that later when we get to battery life…

Samsung galaxy s5 characteristics

THE GOOD Samsung’s Galaxy S5 excels at everything that matters — Android 4.4 KitKat OS; a bright, beautiful display; blistering quad-core processor; and an excellent camera experience. In addition, Samsung’s efforts to streamline its own custom interface and reduce pre-installed bloatware pay off.

THE BAD The Galaxy S5 is a only small upgrade over the Galaxy S4. The fingerprint scanner can be confusing to use, and the heart-rate monitor is a niche feature at best. In some regions, the Galaxy S5 costs significantly more than rival top-rated handsets.

THE BOTTOM LINE Subtly improved and smartly refined, the Samsung Galaxy S5 is a superior superphone that hits every mark but the sharpest design.

Samsung galaxy 5s features

Here is why the Samsung Galaxy S5 should grab your attention: it looks good, it performs very well, and it has everything you need to become a fixture in nearly every aspect of your life. But, like a candidate running for reelection, the GS5 gets where it is today based on experience and wisdom, not on flashy features or massive innovation.

With the exception of a few nonessential hardware and software additions — like the fingerprint scanner and novel heart-rate monitor — and a few design tweaks, you’re pretty much looking at the same phone Samsung released in 2013. The S5 is more of a Galaxy S4 Plus than it is a slam-the-brakes, next-generation device; it makes everything just a little smoother and faster.

The 5.1-inch, quad-core Android 4.4 KitKat machine with a terrific 16-megapixel camera is well worth snapping up, both on-contract for about $200, or off-contract for about $650. In the UK it’s around the £500 mark, and in Australia it’ll set you back AU$850.

Samsung galaxy 5s waterproof

Gizmag: The Galaxy S5 is water-resistant, which, depending on how you use your phone, could be a big plus. If you like to soak in the bath or hot tub, for example, you can bring your GS5 along for the ride. You could also leave it poolside, and swim to the edge and check your messages (you don’t want to take it swimming, though). And of course it’s great insurance against accidental drops in sinks, puddles or toilets.

Galaxy 5s vs iphone 5s

We take a look at how the Samsung Galaxy S5 stacks up against the other top smartphones.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 is, without a doubt, one of the most popular phones of 2014. The follow up to the Galaxy S4 packs a refreshed design, tons of new sensors, and an updated operating system.

It’s also chock-full of respectable specs, including a 1080p HD AMOLED 5.1-inch screen, a snappy 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, and a 16-megapixel camera. To top it all off, the S5 is also waterproof, inspired by the Samsung Galaxy S4Active from 2013, and comes with a new fingerprint scanner similar to theiPhone 5S. It even has a heart-rate monitor, which is built into the camera flash. (http://www.cnet.com/)

Galaxy 5s vs iphone 6

Gizmag goes hands-on to compare the iPhone 6 and Samsung Galaxy S5 (Photo: Will Shanklin/Gizmag.com).

There are more great smartphones than ever before, but you won’t find two more popular brands than iPhone and Galaxy. How do their latest flagships compare? Read on, as Gizmag goes hands-on with the iPhone 6 and Samsung Galaxy S5.

We think these are two terrific smartphones. If you’re looking for someone to say that one is perfect, the other is garbage and there’s one universal right answer for everyone, then you’ll need to look elsewhere. Both are among the best smartphones of 2014, and each can make many people happy. The question is which one is better for you.

When comparing the latest iPhone and Galaxy flagships, screen size used to be an enormous advantage for Samsung. But with Apple giving the latest iPhones much bigger screens than their predecessors, it’s less of an issue. At 4.7 inches, the iPhone 6 gives you 85 percent as much screen as the Galaxy S5 does:

You still get more screen from the GS5 (18 percent more, to be exact), but at least the iPhone is no longer living by a 2010-era definition of screen size.

Both handsets have answers for one-handed use. On the Galaxy S5, a quick gesture shrinks the entire screen. On the iPhone, lightly double-tapping the Touch ID sensor slides top-level content down to the bottom (Apple calls this “Reachability”).

Both phones get A’s for screen quality. The GS5’s is sharper (432 pixels per inch, compared to the iPhone’s 326) and uses Super AMOLED technology for deep blacks and rich colors. The iPhone’s screen, though, has terrific contrast, color accuracy and viewing angles.
