According to the BGR reporter Chris Smith,  Samsung will launch the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ on March 29

A new report out of Korea indicates that Samsung might be in a hurry to kick off Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ sales, and the company has apparently pushed up the preorder date by a few days.

It’s unclear at this time whether Galaxy S8 preorders will kick off globally on April 7th or just in Korea, But ETNews says that Samsung will make a big deal out of its launch event.

The smartphone giant has partnered up with the three major mobile carriers to hold special Galaxy S8 events on April 7th, complete with contests and prizes for early adopters. Crowds are apparently expected at these events, complete with iPhone-style lines in front of participating stores.

The decision to hold preorder events came about rather suddenly

The report notes that it’s unusual for Samsung and its carrier partners to go through all this trouble for a smartphone pre-launch event in Korea. Apparently, the decision to hold preorder events came about rather suddenly, according to an unnamed official.

Preorder demand for the LG G6 is much stronger than anticipated in Korea, and that might be the reason why Samsung is looking to push up the preorder date in the region. Initially, the S8 was expected to go on sale on April 10th and launch in stores on April 21st. The April 21st launch date has not changed, according to reports. A few days ago, Samsung kicked off a teaser campaign in Korea, to remind buyers that the Galaxy S8 is coming.
