Showtime has offered some of the most popular TV shows in recent memory: “Californication,” “Dexter,” “Nurse Jackie,” “Homeland” and “Weeds,” to name just a few. Despite the quality of the programming, it still faces the challenge that all massive cable networks have to contend with: having a primary distribution channel and millions of people trying to figure out how to get around it. Showtime’s CMO Don Buckley will be onstage at the Digiday Video Summit today at 4:20 p.m. ET to talk about the challenge of listening to a diverse audience and how Showtime is approaching it. This will include a focus on viewing habits, consumption of certain kinds of video, the pathways they follow to try a free trial, and what Showtime’s marketing team does once the viewers are in the system.
Also streaming today are sessions on building a new vertical media company with Refinery29 and The Young Turks, evolving the media business with Condé Nast, and looking to online video creators for programming development with Kin Community.
